Marble-Topped Table

c. 1855-1860
Collection of the Springfield Art Association

This table was purchased by Benjamin and Helen Edwards for use in their newly-remodeled house sometime after 1857. It was likely purchased from Scarrit and Mason of St. Louis, from whom the Edwards' bought much of their furniture. The small dog carved on the lower shelf is characteristic of furniture produced in Cincinnati.
